Unfolding the Saga of Publishing Amidst the Pandemic – Part 2

By | August 29, 2023

On May 12, I published a blog detailing how our business, Family Roots Publishing, was managing during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I was optimistic that we would see the end of this crisis by now; however, I was mistaken. Our location in Pierce County has been fortunate, with only 129 deaths and over 5000 cases – 2400 of them still active. Given the size and population density of the county, I believe we’re doing reasonably well.

We are currently in Phase 2 of the county’s dealing with the pandemic, and it seems we’ve been in this stage for quite some time. Most businesses are up and running, but under strict restrictions. At Family Roots Publishing, we’ve kept our production of books alive and continue to ship them, albeit with a significantly smaller onsite team. Over the past month, we’ve been able to introduce a selection of new books, some of which haven’t yet been added to our website. My aim is to have all these new additions available on the FRPC website by the end of this week.

We’re also aware that COVID-19 has affected many of your loved ones. Our sincere hope is for your safety, and a swift recovery for anyone infected. On a more personal note, our son recently lost his sister-in-law, a healthy 30-year-old woman from Utah. This tragic loss led Lee, our son, to fully realize the severity of the COVID-19 situation, something he doubted before. I urge everyone to remain cautious and take preventive measures. It’s important to protect yourself rather than relying on others.

In the coming days, I will post more updates about our new books. On a positive note, there’s been a lot of interesting developments taking place at Family Roots Publishing. We’ve developed resources that we believe will be a game-changer for countless researchers.
