Announcing the Election Results for the 2020 NGS Board of Directors

The National Genealogical Society (NGS) disclosed the results of its 2020 Board of Directors election during its annual assembly held on 1st September 2020. The new lineup for the board features three fresh additions in connection to the imminent joining of forces between the NGS and the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) planned for 1st October 2020. The new board roles include the Vice President for Society & Organization Management along with two large-scale directors hailing from the FGS.

Benjamin B. Spratling, the outgoing president from Birmingham, Alabama, revealed the election results and introduced the incoming board members set to assume office on 1st October.

Here are the individuals seizing charge of their NGS roles from 1st October 2020 till 30th September 2022:

President: Kathryn M. Doyle, California
Vice President: Ellen Pinckney Balthazar, Texas
Vice President of Society & Organization Management: Cheri Hudson Passey, South Carolina
Secretary: Ed Donakey, Utah
Treasurer: Deborah Lebo Hoskins, Pennsylvania

NGS Directors normally hold office for a four-year span, arranged in a staggered manner so that not all members change at the same time.

NGS Regional Directors are:

Region 2 Director: Faye Stallings, Texas
Region 3 Director: Janet L. Bailey, Virginia
Region 4 Director: Bernice Alexander Bennett, Maryland

And the Directors at Large include:

Janet A. Alpert, South Carolina
Colleen Robledo Greene, California
Marlis Humphrey, Florida
Andre Kearns, Washington, DC
David Rencher, Utah

Board members, Angie Bush (Region 1 Director) and Ronald V. Hodges (Director at Large), will persist in their service.

Spratling expressed congratulations to the incoming board members and gratitude for their devoted service to the NGS. Further, he conveyed his appreciation for the Nominating Committee—Jordan Jones (chairperson), Deborah A. Abbott, B. Darrell Jackson, Darcie Hind Posz, and D. Joshua Taylor—for their commendable efforts.
