FindMyPast has just added New Family Records that trace back to Colonial America.

Consider delving into the records of Swiss immigrants to the American Colonies between 1734-1744. This new collection is easily searchable and details around 3,000 Swiss immigrants who sailed to America. Translated from the original manuscript preserved in the Zurich State Archive, these records offer a treasure trove of information about Swiss ancestors, including their names, ages, hometowns and more.

A significant portion of these records pertains to immigrants heading to Carolina, which was the most promoted colony in Switzerland. The records often indicate the reasons leading up to their emigration, as recorded by local priests.

Research the lives of Emigrant Ministers to the Americas, dating between 1690-1811. This collection can help uncover stories of Church of England clergy who established their faith in the American colonies, even receiving royal bounty for their endeavors abroad.

The information is largely sourced from financial records, such as Money Books, Kings Warrant Books, Treasury Papers, and Exchequer of Receipt Papers. These detail the funds allocated to dispatch these ministers to the New World. They often include their intended destination, their roles, and various genealogical facts.

Discover hundred of English settlers carried on the Winthrop Fleet in 1630, just ten years after the Mayflower’s famous voyage. This incredible journey involved 11 ships, captained by John Winthrop, transporting 700 to 1,000 settlers to the New World.

The fleet was primarily composed of Puritan families of various skill sets and professionals, ensuring a fruitful colony. This historical expedition was financed by the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Originally documented in 1930, the records provide comprehensive details about the fleet and its passengers — their backgrounds, experiences, and reasons for embarking on the voyage.

New entries include the Runcorn Weekly News (covering 1913-1933 and 1936-1970) and Clare Freeman and Ennis Gazette (covering 1855-1884), both making their debut on the platform. Supplemental pages have also been added to Evening Mail (from 1869-1872, 1874-1885 and 1892-1922) and Cork Daily Herald (from 1897-1899).
